Fancymoji sets no cookies. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for a consent banner — there is nothing here to consent to. The site does keep one small thing in your browser’s own storage, and this page explains exactly what it is, where it lives and how to clear it.

Why there is no cookie banner
A consent banner exists to ask permission for tracking. Fancymoji does no tracking, so there is nothing to ask about. There is no Google Analytics tag, no advertising pixel, no social plugin and no third-party script that reports your visit anywhere. The library of faces is plain text printed into the page, which is the whole reason it loads fast and works with scripts disabled.
This is a deliberate trade. A kaomoji library does not need to know who you are to hand you (◕‿◕), and the moment a site starts measuring visitors it acquires a duty to explain, store and defend that data. Not collecting it is simpler and safer for everyone.
Cookies and browser storage are not the same thing
The two get confused constantly, and the difference matters for what follows.
| Cookie | localStorage | |
|---|---|---|
| Sent to the server? | Yes, with every request | No, never leaves your device |
| Who can read it | The site, and often third parties | Only pages on this domain |
| Typical use | Logins, sessions, tracking | Small preferences |
| Used by Fancymoji | None | One key, described below |
Because localStorage is never transmitted, the entry described below has never reached our server and cannot be read by anyone but you. That is not a promise about our intentions; it is how the browser feature works.
The one thing Fancymoji stores
There is a hidden feature on the site: a handful of faces are tucked away and can be found while you browse. So that it resets each day rather than running out forever, the page remembers how many finds you have left and the date it last counted.
| Key | Where | What is in it | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
fm_eggs |
localStorage | A count and a date, e.g. five remaining today | Until you clear it; the count resets daily |
That is the complete list. No identifier, no visit history, no record of which faces you copied. If the browser refuses to write it — private windows and locked-down settings often do — the feature simply behaves as though the day just started, and the rest of the site is unaffected.
When a cookie could still appear
Two honest exceptions, neither of which affects an ordinary visitor:
- If you were logged in as an editor. WordPress sets a session cookie for signed-in accounts. Only the people who run the site ever log in, and it exists solely to keep that session open.
- Security and delivery infrastructure. Fancymoji sits behind a network that filters malicious traffic. Such services can set a functional cookie to tell a browser apart from an attack tool. It carries no advertising profile and is not ours to read.
Neither is used to build a profile of you, and neither changes what the pages show.
How to check for yourself
Do not take our word for it — the browser will tell you. Press F12 to open developer tools, open the Application tab (Chrome and Edge) or Storage (Firefox), and look at Cookies for fancymoji.com: it should be empty. Under Local Storage you will see fm_eggs and nothing else, and only if you have triggered the hidden feature at least once.
How to clear it
Deleting site data for fancymoji.com in your browser settings removes the entry immediately. In developer tools you can also right-click the fm_eggs row and delete it on its own. Nothing breaks either way: the counter starts over and every face still copies.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to accept anything to use Fancymoji?
No. There is nothing to accept, which is why no banner appears.
Does copying a face get recorded?
No. Copying happens entirely in your browser using the clipboard; nothing is sent to the server when you tap a face.
Is fm_eggs a cookie?
No. It is a localStorage entry, and unlike a cookie it is never attached to requests and never reaches us.
Where do I read about data more generally?
The privacy policy covers server logs and email; how the library is compiled and checked is set out in the editorial policy. Questions that neither answers can go to the address on the contact page, and the full library is on Fancymoji.
